Wil Harris

A native of Washington, D.C.. Today he is a home town legend. As a child Wil was infatuated with music and musical instruments. His father bought him his first guitar when he was 11 years old. Besides being self taught, his Uncle Frank Wess paid for his first guitar lessons. At the age of 13 years old he was taught by Jazz virtuoso Bill Harris. As a teenager will performed in the local music scene of Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, (today called the DMV area), with local bands such as “The Shadows Of Soul”, (later called “The Shadows”) and also, “The Young Naturals”, later called “The Naturals”. as well as his own fusion freak rock band “The Space Niggers” and later “30th Century Man”. Wil has always been an unusual character and has always been ahead of his time. He became quite popular and made a huge impact and name for himself locally.

Wil was later discovered by and commissioned to perform with Ramone Tiki Fulwood who was the original drummer of the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame band Parliament Funkadelic. Tiki unfortunately passed away at a young age. After a strong bond and musical comradeship with Tiki, Wil later performed, or recorded with other great legends of Funk, Rock, & R&B. To name a few:
1. Betty Davis’s back up Band, “Funkhouse”. 2. “Mutiny” led by former P-Funk Drummer Jerome Brailey. 3. The Chambers Brothers. 4. A new rendition of Funkadelic, (which included original members Eddie Hazel, Billy Bass Nelson, and Jerome Brailey). 5. Ricky Fante. 6. Isaac Hayes. 7. Malia Franklin. 8. Tyka Nelson and others.
