The Aggression band came about when the Godfather of Go-Go Chuck Brown sent drummer Michael Burt to his old band The Los Latino’s who were now called The Dealers. Chuck’s partner Tommy Smith was over-seeing the band. The famous Apple Brothers, John and Ronald Williams were also in this group with John on guitar and Ronald on bass. Mike Davis was on the Hammond Organ. The Dealers worked around the Washington D.C. area and toured Maryland, Virginia, The Carolinas, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and throughout the state of New York. After a year or so, the band members became aware that Tommy Smith was creating a situation which caused both sides to part ways, so the members formed a new group called The Aggression Band and Show. From that moment on the band changed its image and format. They hired a three piece horn section, Vernon McDonald, Hobson McCain, Donald Tillery , and Terry on trumpet. They also hired additional keyboard players Tony Tillman and Terry Scott. Terry also played guitar. He later became the keyboard player for Eddie Hazel, the Gap Band, Diana Ross, and Donny Williams whom they appointed front man. The band worked hard for two years and brought in manager Butch Burns. The group recorded two singles, The Tag and Norman Conners version “Your’re My Starship” both on the SRI Label.
The Aggression Band and Show developed into an opening act for artists such as:
Parliament Funkadelic, Kool and the Gang, Ohio Players, Rufus with Chaka Khan, Eddie Kendricks, The Young Senators, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Ike and Tina Turner Revue, Wild Magnolias, Sly and the Family Stone, Betty Davis,Graham Central Station
Mandrill, Mango Di Bango, Osibisa, Isaac Hayes, Luther Ingram, Percy Sledge, Millie jackson, Backup band for Wilson Pickett, Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers
The band landed a deal with Casablanca Records around the same time as the group Cameo, only to loose it to budget cuts. This left the Aggression Band and Show with no money to continue and they were later dropped.
