Terry Scott

Terry Scott is a singer, songwriter, musician from Washington D.C. He began playing the piano at an early age. Watching his dad’s group rehearse at their home, one day he walked over to the piano and played the song he just heard. He was two years old. Soon after the prodigy played his first church solo at age three. Music became his first love and from school plays to Sunday school to graduations, there was lots of opportunity as a youngster to hone his skills.
As a teenager, Scott began playing in local bands and by the time he was eighteen, he’d already been in a succession of bands playing keyboards and toured Europe. Listening to such bands as Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and the Stones, he discovered the guitar and a great love for rock music was fueled. He taught himself to play a variety of instruments and began writing songs. By the 1980’s he was signed to a major record label deal with Electra Asylum Records. This rock album didn’t get the exposure and attention it and he deserved and Terry became a touring musician playing behind such acts as Eddie Hazel (Parliament Funkadelic), Wilson Pickett, The Gap Band, The Isley Brothers and many established bands during the 80’s and 90’s. Not satisfied as a backup musician and haven written many songs, Terry wanted to once again pursue his dream of a solo career.

Terry Scott, now a California resident, has put together his years of work and experience to find a sound all his own. Fusing elements of rock, pop and R&B with strong songwriting and real musicianship, this CD personifies a seasoned artist. Although black acts are still projected with limited scope and vision, Terry dares again to challenge stereotypes and emerges with a range of great music that defies limitation. From the touching title track “Its Only Love”, with its heartfelt message of love for humanity, to the blazing “Tribute” to Jimi Hendrix with its rocking guitars, to the Latin influenced “Waiting in the Wings”, this CD offers music in a myriad of style and taste that is Terry Scott.
